I am modelling again. I missed it.
Some of our readers may not know, but I was a model for five years at the start of my career. I did it simultaneously with journalism, and was signed up with a British/Danish agency. It was really fun and I continued doing it in Canada as well.
I was “finding myself” for a long time before I decided to be a journalist. At one point, I wanted to become a make-up artist and even took professional make-up courses from a U.K.-based high-end cosmetics and make-up school. It was very interesting and the program focused on fashion and photographic make-up. However, that endeavour of mine took a back seat a few months later, when I got hired full-time at OK! Magazine. Journalism took over my life completely… And I’ve never looked back.
Back to the shoot though: yesterday, I modelled a couple of dresses from Blu Ivory Bridal and Evening. This creative photoshoot took place in Toronto’s Liberty Village and was shot by FAJO‘s contributing photographer, the very-talented, Aleyah Solomon.
I decided to make it a more personalized project. I chose my favourite dresses from the store, did my own make-up (my professional training came in handy here) and our Events Editor Katia Ostapets did a fabulous job by creating some beautiful hairdos for me.
I am lucky to have a multi-talented team that I love working with. In the end, it was pretty much a girls’ day out: we drank coffee, ate crepes, gossiped, brainstormed and got the photoshoot going.
Aleyah is finalizing the photos right now but, in the meantime, here is a sneak peek image from the photoshoot!
