Beauty notes at Toronto Women’s Fashion Week, fall/winter 2017

March 15, 2017

A large group of both veteran and emerging Canadian fashion designers joined Toronto Women’s Fashion Week this season.

Redken and Maybelline New York were, once again, working collaboratively backstage to create beauty looks that complemented and elevated the vision of each designer.

So what are the key trends we are seeing on the runways this season?

“Versatility, people love variety,” says Jorge Joao, Redken’s International Artist, who was the head of hairstyling at the event. “We are seeing a lot of accessories, and not just your typical accessories: it can be literally earrings or fabrics, incorporated into the hairstyle. There are also many looks that have a ‘wet’ texture and feel; and the braids are taking it to the next level, with knots, twists or a rope effect.”

“The brow is very prominent this season, and we are seeing lots of burgundy either on the eyes or the lips,” adds Grace Lee, Maybelline New York’s Lead Make-Up Artist, who was the head of make-up at the event.
