In this issue, Sid Cratzbarg who is widely known as Ottawa’s Aristocrat of Scent, shares with our readers his top scents for fall.

Cratzbarg has launched exclusive fragrances at Holt Renfrew for the last couple of years. Making a splash on the Ottawa fashion scene more than six years ago, he is the owner of Accessories by Sid.

Cratzbarg, who is also a local television personality, believes that every perfume has a story.

This fall, he lends us his expertise.


Top Men’s Fragrances

1. Dolce & Gabbana, The One Sport 

This is a fabulous scent! It is the third fragrance from The One line, which includes The One for Men, The One Gentleman. Stefano Gabbana, says it is for the man who feels good about himself.

This is a daytime perfume that appeals to all ages – it is for the active sportsman, and is referred to as the fragrance for the modern gladiator.

Some of the main notes are rosemary, cardamom and patchouli.

2. Hugo Boss, Just Different

A new fragrance by Hugo Boss, this is a modern perfume that has been described as vibrant and inspiring.

This scent will leave you ready to see things differently, hence its name, “Just Different.” Men of all ages have absolutely loved this scent.

A fresh and subtle day or night fragrance, some of the notes are mint, freesia, basil and cashmeran.

3. Gucci, Guilty

Developed to be a companion of the women’s edition of Gucci Guilty, this fragrance is extremely modern; it is also available as Gucci Guilty Intense.

The bottle, crafted out of metal and glass, creates a strong impression of masculinity for the man who loves style with an edge. For day or night, this seductive fragrance is definitely a chick magnet!

Some of the notes are lavender, lemon and patchouli.

4. Bulgari, Mon Jasmin Noir, L’Eau Exquise

Bulgari’s Mon Jasmin Noir, L’Eau Exquise, is inspired by the Boboli Gardens in Florence. With a bottle that is adorned with lace etchings and an organza ribbon, this fragrance is appealing to fashionistas everywhere and has been flying off the shelves!

It is a beautiful daytime scent for the modern, young woman, who really appreciates style and elegance.

A perfect companion for the Jasmin Noir Collection, the notes include jasmine water, white tea and almond.

5. Salvatore Ferragamo, Signorina

Launched in Canada at Holt Renfrew, it continues to be one of the top 10 fragrances in the country.

This fragrance appeals to all ages but, particularly, to young women (hence, its name which denotes a way of addressing a young woman). The woman who wears this is stylish and full of life. The bottle has the signature gros grain Ferragamo bow and a spray nozzle that is covered by a gorgeous pink gold bubble.

Some of the notes are jasmine and rose, as well as the rich Italian dessert panna cotta.
