As the leaves and my wardrobe change, so does my desire for a new ‘do. With Miami on my mind and the holidays just around the corner, I bundled up and headed over to the Sanctuary Salon in Williamsburg to add a few layers of a different kind.

 

Stepping into Sanctuary transported me from a blistery New York winter to a tropical oasis. Leafy murals lined the walls, complementing the lush foliage that filled the sunny space. Jill, the owner, greeted me at the front desk, promptly offering me a glass of rosé to top off the vacation vibe. I obliged—it was five o’ clock somewhere!

 

I was introduced to James, my fabulous stylist, who knew exactly what I needed—a fun, asymmetrical bob with lots of layers. It would only take a touch of sea salt spray to make me feel like I had spent a day beach-side. Luckily for me, I would be getting the real deal in just a few short weeks!

After a quick massage with Sachajuan Ocean Mist Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, James got to work. He recounted his days as an assistant to a celebrity stylist on the Upper East Side as I soaked in all the gossip. He worked quickly, shearing, teasing and drying my hair for a naturally textured look. A spritz of Sachajuan Ocean Mist sea salt spray and a volumizing boost of dry powder shampoo (his secret weapon)—and voila! South Beach, here I come.

 

I was impressed by the concept for the salon. Sanctuary being her second space in Brooklyn, Jill knew she wanted to open something more meaningful—a respite from the concrete jungle. With massive floor-to-ceiling windows and a multitude of accent plants, the experience allows New Yorkers to reconnect with nature. In an effort to create a holistic and sustainable salon, Jill chose to exclusively use eco-friendly and cruelty-free products.

 

With my fresh makeover, I was ready to hit the beach—which I did a few weeks later. My layers loved the Miami water so much that I hardly needed additional products. I flaunted my new look on South Beach and at the renowned Vizcaya Estate!
