Yigal Azrouël has recently unveiled his resort 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Israeli-born American designer based in New York, whose latest collections were restrained in silhouette, colour and ornamentation, has kept to his signature style. In his resort line beauty is found in details, where architectural structures are combined with delicate materials. While creating structured silhouettes, he uses sheer details and intriguing cutouts.
Azrouël showcases precise construction and is known for his feminine silhouettes and draping techniques. However, his resort collection does not incorporate draping; on the contrary, his garments embrace modern structural minimalism – strict collared shirts and polished blazers, bombers, culottes and wide-cropped pants, column skirts, voluminous and implicitly sexy fitted dresses that leave space for imagination. The collection in some way challenges conventions of femininity and incorporates masculine features for female attire.
The designer plays with luxurious textures and fabrications — texturally unique woven jacquards and chevron, supple lambskin, silk twills provide not only the structure and shape, but also add an element of simplistic fluidity. His selection of materials emphasizes the whole concept behind this collection.
The choice of colour is minimalistic as well – mostly black, white and shades of grey, incorporated into graphic prints. The only pop of colour is the deep blue, which is very appropriate for the seas and oceans of the summer.
Elegantly tailored suits and dresses are appropriate to wear in the office and easy to change for drinks after work. The garments also showcase an affinity for sportswear, which has dominated the fashion scene for the last few years, and they solidify the sophisticated leisure of the season.
