#FlashbackFriday: Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival 2018

August 31, 2018

Every autumn, the Museum Precinct of Melbourne transforms into the official fashion hub of the city to host the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. In its 22d year, this is Australia’s longest running and largest consumer-facing fashion event.

For the first three weeks of March, Australia’s hottest designers showcased their autumn / winter 2018 collections. Each runway show was styled by industry experts from one of the major Australian publications, including Australian Vogue, Marie Claire and Grazia.

This year’s venue, the historic Victorian-style Royal Exhibition Building was majestically lit up in fuchsia and royal blue, amid the backdrop of the sprawling Carleton Gardens. Between shows, guests were encouraged to enjoy themselves at The Plaza, a bustling square built for the occasion that consisted of sponsored marquees offering cocktails, makeup touch-ups and the opportunity to purchase garments straight from the runway.

FAJO attended the major shows of the week to bring you the best looks of the festival.
