Toronto Fashion Week unveils Style Plate

August 27, 2018

Earlier today, Toronto Fashion Week®, in collaboration with restaurants in the city’s Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood, unveiled Style Plate, a new community event that will run from Sept. 4 to Sept. 6.

The concept is simple but creative: chefs and mixologists from participating restaurants and bars have teamed up with select Canadian designers—who will showcase their work during fashion week—in order to craft a unique dish and / or cocktail inspired by each designer’s collections.
Restaurant and bar guests will enjoy 25 per cent off a ticket to check out a show (or more!) at Toronto Fashion Week. Special promo codes are available when you visit participating restaurants.

Here is a list of restaurant and designer pairings:

  • CIBO x HENDRIXROE
  • ONE x Christopher Bates
  • STK x Victoria Hayes
  • Amber x WRKDEPT
  • Sofia x NARCES
  • Sassafraz x ZOFF
  • Café Nervosa x Hilary MacMillan
  • Bar Reyna x Christopher Paunil
  • Oxley Public House x Namesake
  • PLANTA x Triarchy
  • Kasa Moto x Tara Rivas

Melissa Campisi, Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Event Marketing at the Yorkville Village (which is one of the Founding Partners of Toronto Fashion Week), said that the concept was developed in order to “engage the neighbourhood with Toronto Fashion Week and bring the event out of the main tent and into the community.”

ONE x Christopher Bates.

“We tried to pair each restaurant with a Canadian designer who shared in the same type of creative aesthetic,” she added. “You see this come to life perfectly through the images we captured at each of the locations for our campaign, as well as the culinary and cocktail creations that each team collectively developed as part of the project. As an example, ONE is featuring a Rossetto Martini. ‘Rossetto’ means lipstick in Italian, a cheeky reference to Christopher Bates’ signature lipstick mark on the collar of all his men’s dress shirts.”
