Morfosis, fall/winter 2019/2020 at Riga Fashion Week

March 30, 2019

Alessandra Cappiello is a fashion designer from Rome. She worked in collaboration with the Malloni brand as a Fashion Consulting Designer until 2004, when she created her own brand Morfosis.

After becoming a finalist in the fourth edition of Who’s On Next? in 2008, she began participating in Paris, Tokyo and Milan fashion weeks.

Inspired by her classical studies, art and, above all, influenced by her painter grandmother, Anna Grauso, Cappiello perceives the garment as a perfect synthesis of wearability and inspiration.

The designer has had celebrity collaborations with Madonna, Katia and Marielle Labeque, and violinist Victoria Mullova.

For her fall/winter 2019/2020, presented at Riga Fashion Week, Cappiello explores 70s lines that are softened by sinuous accents. Precious fabrics and gentle shapes are intertwined to create high-waisted pants and long dresses.

The colour palette is dressed in bold shades of brown, black and burgundy, and mitigated by softer shades of gray and pink. Soft mohair, voluptuous feathers, the materiality of the leather in its pleated and snakeskin variations, the strict tartan and the bright lurex knitwear encapsulate a modern concept of romanticism and femininity.
