Boobyball: Get Physical is next week!

October 5, 2017

The month of October is traditionally dedicated to the fight against breast cancer and promoted as Pinktober. This year, for the 16th time in a row, Rethink Breast Cancer is throwing its annual Boobyball to raise funds against for this important cause.

To find out what is anticipated this year and give our readers a preview of the big party, we asked Ali Blasioli, the Events Manager for Boobyball, a couple of questions.

How is this year’s Boobyball going to be different from the balls in previous years?

This year’s Boobyball is bigger than ever! We have some amazing partners on board that will be throwing it waaay back. You can expect aerobic dance-offs, tasty treats, retro cocktails and the sickest beats.

How did you come up with the theme “Let’s Get Physical”?

We know that regular physical activity can help reduce a woman’s lifetime risk of developing breast cancer and aid in recovery. So, this year’s event will celebrate healthy, active lifestyles with a retro, nostalgic twist.

What is the expected dress code for the guests?

We want everyone to sport their favourite trends from the ’80s and ’90s; from leotards to legwarmers, shoulder pads to scrunchies, jean jackets to jelly shoes. For inspiration check out our Pinterest page.

If it’s not a secret, how much do you expect to raise at this year’s event? And are there any other ways that guests could help in raising funds, besides purchasing a ticket?

This year, we aim to raise over $500,000 nationally for Rethink Breast Cancer. Participating in our Boobyball auction is a great way to help raise funds, and score some amazing items. You can start bidding starting October 10th at http://www.boobyballauction.ca.

The funds raised by Boobyball are crucial in supporting Rethink’s mission to provide education, resources and advocacy to young people affected by breast cancer.

“Boobyball: Get Physical” is a cross-national event. In Toronto, it will take place on Oct.13, 2017 at REBEL, 11 Polson Street.
