Look good, feel confident: MarieNatie

August 9, 2013

Advertorial

Like many women, Marie Yang was worried about the effect of harsh chemicals on her skin. A desire to make a difference in the cosmetics industry made her take a class that focused on creating completely natural make-up.

Yang family’s background in cosmetics was a strong guiding force for her entrepreneurial spirit. In order to deepen her industry knowledge, she also travelled to a variety of trade shows in Hong Kong, United States and Italy.

Fast forward three years and Yang’s brainchild MarieNatie has grown to include multiple shades of blush, lip balm, lip gloss, eye shadow and eyeliner. Her products are available in stores (Grassroots in Toronto, Terra 20 in Ottawa), online boutiques (Integrity Botanicals, MarieNatie and an online store in China) and at select events.

Lipgloss is one of MarieNatie's bestsellers.

Lip gloss is one of MarieNatie’s bestsellers.

Made without the use of any chemicals or preservatives—such as parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances or dyes—Yang says her make-up “does not look heavy on the face and is for people who want a natural look.”

The uniqueness of the line is in its authenticity. Yang created and tested all ingredients on herself to ensure the make-up was “not harmful to health” and her “clients could feel safe buying these products and using them.” For example, when creating one of the bestsellers—MarieNatie lip gloss—Yang extensively researched a variety of oils that would be beneficial to the skin and would have a moisturizing effect.

Her latest endeavour includes a new mascara, which was created as a result of customer demand, and four new flavours of lip balm perfect for summer and fall: peppermint, peppermint green tea, vanilla and honey vanilla.

Due to MarieNatie’s success, Yang is looking forward to growing her business, including a potential line of all-natural nail polishes that are sure to expand her international following even further.

The next event showcasing the MarieNatie line will be held on Aug.18 at Cove ThirtyOne on Mercer Street in Toronto, Canada.
