Gain the physique that others will envy

January 27, 2014

Trudie German is the owner and creative force of Body Envy Personal Training Services.

She is a mobile personal trainer, serving across GTA – from Toronto to Oakville – which means that she will come to her clients’ location (either office or building gym). Clients are also able to meet her at one of the gyms she uses.

Trudie’s specialty is in using various forms of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which focuses not on how long you exercise, but rather how hard you exercise. By doing this, Trudie can help your body burn more calories after the completion of exercise, sometimes for up to 48 hours later. This also helps develop heart, muscle and cardio strength.

She shares her story below.

1.   What is your professional business background and education?

I am a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

I also have a Sheridan College certification from their Human Performance Training (HPT) program, as well as training through the Resistance Training Specialist (RTS) program.

2. What was the turning moment for you, when you realized that entrepreneurship is something you wanted to pursue?

I am a very physically oriented person and after feeling drained sitting for so long at my desk job, and training, I put the two-and-two together.

I then realized my calling: to help and train other people to live and experience a great feeling in their bodies, through developing strength. That is my passion and where my skills are.

3. How long have you been running your business for?

I started Body Envy in 2010.

4. Please describe your business mantra.

  • Throw out the scale!
  • Create your own definition of being healthy!
  • You decide what you want others to Envy!

5. What has been your biggest success to date?

Building my business from scratch to a full clientele has been very rewarding.

I also consider my clients’ achievements as my biggest successes too – they shift their bodies and achieve what they never thought was possible – that is very rewarding to be a part of.

6. What makes a good personal trainer?

A good personal trainer:

1. Listens to his/her clients’ needs and wants and adheres to them.

2. Is fully present during a training session.

3. Makes the client the priority as well, not just the trainer.

4. Constantly learns and increases his/her knowledge.

5. Leads by example.

7. How do you train yourself?

I usually follow a split workout – each day I’ll train a different body part.

8. Please describe your typical day.

I typically wake up at 4 a.m., begin training clients at 5 a.m., and then take a mid-day nap.

I then reply to e-mails, phone calls and other administrative tasks.

I train myself, train clients in the evenings and later at night review their progress or relax.

9. What makes your personal training style unique?

I am very present for and with my clients, and I am continuously adding new skills to help take my clients to new heights. I view our work together as their odyssey – I am their tour guide.

10. How can potential clients find you/get in touch with you?

Through my website www.bodyenvy.ca, and especially by phone 416-888-7947 or via e-mail: info@bodyenvy.ca
