Top 7 lipsticks for Valentine’s Day 2017

February 9, 2017

For Valentine’s Day, one of the important questions that ladies will ask themselves is inevitably: “What lipstick should I wear today?”

Whether you are looking for an innocent sheer or a bold and kissable shade that will stay on all day, we have tested more than a dozen of different lip products and picked our favourites. Here they are, in random order.

Burberry’s Liquid Lip Velvet in Brilliant Violet No.45

This matte liquid lipstick provides a very smooth application with one stroke. It doesn’t dry or constrict the lips, and gives a very soft, velvety matte feeling.

It lasts up to 8 hours, the lips feel moisturized and they don’t feel like you have anything on, due to the product’s creamy texture. The colour is quite bold and looks great. An excellent option for a Valentine’s date with coffee or drinks.

GOSH’s Velvet Touch Matt Lipstick in Matt Nougat

This Gosh lipstick applies softly and has a trendy earthy brown shade. It gives a very natural highly pigmented colour and matte finish to your lips, and lasts the whole day without re-application. It is also paraben-free, and enriched with natural oils and waxes for moisturizing and soothing feel.

Great option for those who prefer a very natural look.

Lancôme’s Juicy Shaker in Top Gum

This is a very fun and whimsical product. First, you shake it to mix the oils with a colour pigment, then — twist it and apply the lip gloss with a cute cushion applicator.

It has a very light pink glossy shine with a sweet bubble-gum scent. The lips feel very soft and nourished. This is a great option for those who like to go with natural innocent looks.

Lancome

The Body Shop’s Matte Lip Liquid in Sydney Amaryllis

The lipstick applies softly like a gloss, but has a very rich colour. It is lightweight but highly pigmented. This product is a great option for a long Valentine’s date, including a walk and a dinner.

During the day, it has a wonderful bright scarlet shade. Moreover, it doesn’t leave marks when you kiss your loved one!  Added bonus: it is cruelty-free and vegetarian.

Stila’s Stay All Day MATTE’ificent Lipstick in Étoile

This lipstick is a great option for a Valentine’s Day, that starts with a romantic brunch and ends with after-work drinks. It has a bright but very delicate pink colour, which is suitable for the morning/day and would look great with a bolder eye make-up in the evening.

It is very soft and smooth, but long-lasting. Thanks to infusion of natural oils and Vitamin E, it gives a nourishing and non-drying feeling. This lipstick is a go-to product not only for a special date, but also for general daily use.

Arbonne’s Glossed Over Lip Gloss in Cardinal

As an alternative to matte lipsticks, Arbonne has released a glossy shimmery lip gloss in red for Valentine’s Day. It has a sheer-to-medium coverage when applied alone, but can be worn on top of a lipstick for additional shine and voluminous effect.

It is applied very smoothly and is not tacky or sticky, although it is perfect for kiss stamps. Great benefit of this gloss is that, like other Arbonne products, it is free of parabens, synthetic dyes and gluten. It is also certified vegan.

Maybelline’s Colour Sensational Inti-Matte Nudes in Honey Pink

This lipstick has a classic nude shade to go with any make-up look that you would feel inspired for a Valentine’s Day. Maybelline has released a range of 10 warm creamy matte nudes, from warm pink, to coral to chocolate, with golden undertones to flatter every skin tone.

It has a nice, creamy texture for a soft feel. It is matte, but thanks to honey nectar oils, the lips feel moisturized. It stays on for the whole day, and does not leave marks on the ones you kiss, so you won’t have to re-apply it every hour.
