Quebec’s little treasure: Hôtel Quintessence

Winter? Summer? Who really knows anymore what season it is in Canada. Regardless of the time of the year, trying to find the perfect getaway is not an easy feat, but Hôtel Quintessence in the heart of Quebec has you covered. This quaint property is situated just steps away from the busy hustle-and-bustle of the Mont Tremblant village, yet provides the perfect balance between serenity and entertainment.

We chose to stay at Quintessence over a weekend. Upon our arrival, we had effortless parking with the in-house valet, and were greeted by two very friendly hotel staff members who checked us in and directed us to our room.

It was an early evening and as we walked through the door of the hotel suite, which immediately transported us to the world of serenity. Miles Davis quietly played in the background and the concierge quickly proceeded to start the fireplace for us, while we snacked on delicious macarons that were neatly placed on the bedside table.

The room had everything needed for a perfect stay: a king-size bed, a crackling fireplace, a whirpool standalone bath (perfect for two if you’re feeling romantic), and a perfectly situated balcony that overlooked the spa of the hotel and had a view to die for.

Our room had huge windows that yielded incredible light in the morning: looking at the mountains and the lake, while sipping on a morning coffee from the in-room Nespresso machine, was a true delight.

The next day, we found the restaurant La Quintessence downstairs, which served a phenomenal breakfast buffet. Should you visit the hotel during a warmer season, the outdoor terrace is perfect for a breakfast under the sun, overlooking the water and the mountains.

In winter time, you can cozy up indoors, or simply dial down for room service and enjoy a delightful meal in front of the fireplace.

One of the most captivating things about the restaurant, aside from the mouthwatering dishes, was the never-ending wine list that you can experience on-site. Some of the greatest vintages can be found hidden away in the cellar here. The restaurant also organizes wine tastings with incredible vintage options, so don’t miss the chance to sample some one-of-a-kind bottles.

A must-do while visiting the venue is their year-round spa service at Spa Sans Sabots. Whether it is the infinity pool and poolside mojitos, or the hot tub with some hot cocoa, be sure to check out the one-hour Swedish massage, or opt for the facials and body treatment. The spa also features a fitness room, steam room, dry sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi, outdoor infinity pool (open in winter for Nordic bath experience), manicures, pedicures, facials and body treatments with Yonka and Babor products from Paris. Should you prefer a little bit more privacy, be sure to schedule a massage in your own suite, in front of the crackling fireplace!

Hotel Quintessence is a one stop shop for being pampered any time of the year, whether you are looking for a getaway on your own, with your significant other, friends or family. It’s a perfect relaxation mode whenever you crave one!
