Every season, we bring the best shows from World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto to our readers around the world. Our editorial team carefully selects who to cover based on industry predictions, conversations with designers themselves, and sometimes even insider details that are revealed to us off-the-record.
Over the years, FAJO has helped many designers launch their careers in Canada, by being the first publication to review their show. Both established talents and new, hidden gems from all over the country come to Toronto to showcase their creativity at the second largest fashion week in North America. Months of work and preparation go into each runway presentation: the final product may only be less than 10 minutes long, but it means many sleepless nights, lots of stress and excitement, and continued dedication to the fashion sector.
Meanwhile, although the key highlights are certainly on the runway, fashion people definitely know how to keep the excitement growing outside the tents as well. Expect nothing short of the ordinary here – there are funky outfits, colourful numbers that almost look like costumes, trendy chic and many clothes by local designers, who dress various personalities throughout the week. Driving by makes this area look like a film set, with photographers snapping away, camera crews taking a smoke, and models, editors and stylists touching up on their make-up, or making a phone call. It’s a vibrant, fast-paced environment that is never boring.
This season, our team decided to provide you with the snapshots of each day. Instead of doing separate articles for street style and runway shows, we have combined them to show you what it all looks like – on and off the runway. Take a look and make sure to come back on a daily basis, as will be updating this page with new photos all week!
