September was a busy month in Toronto this year, with hundreds of celebrities from all over the world flocking to the city for various fashion and film-related events.
One of the biggest highlights was the Fashion Cares 25 (silver anniversary celebration), held on Sept.10 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.
Elton John and his husband David Furnish were the guests of honour, and they were joined by some of the leaders from the fashion industry. This included the hosts Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED and Linda Evangelista, as well as Jeanne Beker and Canadian supermodel Yasmin Warsame, who wore a stunning black gown with a scorpion design on her back.
Guests were treated to some memorable performances that night, with The Scissor Sisters opening the show. Sky Ferreira took to the stage as well, along with Janelle Monae.
Sir Elton John headlined the show with four special solo songs: Tiny Dancer, Your Song, a rendition of Rocket Man and Crocodile Rock with an acappella audience.
John also led the finale number, singing I’m Still Standing with over 20 other performers, including Jully Black, Keshia Chante and Chantal Kreviazuk.
This philanthropic event benefited Canadian HIV/AIDs foundations nationwide through the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), as well as the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF).
