When Denis Gagnon’s much-anticipated show began, the audience froze once the models started to appear on the catwalk.
His work was unlike anything else that the LG Fashion Week saw this year.
A fusion of gothic, ethnic, rockstar, sci-fi influences – there was nothing conservative or traditional here.
Gagnon wasn’t afraid to push the boundaries and create something jaw-dropping.
His colour scheme was simple – black, white, grey, muted champagne and muted green. What was not simple was Gagnon’s use of slits and embroidery. The way he twisted the fabric in some pieces was truly remarkable.
This was a show for everyone – and if you liked it, then you didn’t just like it. You loved it.
Leather, sheer fabrics, fringe, chains, lace, mesh, cotton, silk – Gagnon went all-in for his spring 2011 collection.
The last official show of the LG Fashion Week, Gagnon received a standing ovation from a densely packed Heritage Court.
