Caulfield Cup 2017: full coverage

November 8, 2017

The races are calling!

The Caulfield Cup never disappoints and welcomes to their racecourse all those who dress their best, like watching the thoroughbreds fly by or simply enjoy the finer things in life. Known as one of Australia’s most prestigious spring gatherings, the host opened the day with flowing champagne and an array of celebrity appearances. There was no better way to spend a Saturday.

The Moët & Chandon lawn featured white sail-like parasols, along with white leather lounges and bespoke sparkling Moët goblets. The marquee served Bloody Marys and small B.L.T sandwiches throughout the day, as well as small snack bowls. Australian model, Natalie Roser, was hard to miss in her bright orange dress and golden headpiece. The David Jones runway neighboured Moët’s VIP lawn, providing all guests with a great view of the fashion yet to be seen this season.

The show opened with a pop/electronic performance by Bonnie Anderson, an ex-Australia’s Got Talent winner, who set an energetic, young and fun tone to the runway. Models streamed down in vibrant colours, suits for both men and women, long fringes and a touch of the 60s here and there. Once the show ended, fashion illustrations were provided by the Catalina Sounds group, while Westfield Shopping Centres provided photoshoots to all those who desired the ultimate selfie.

The David Jones marquee was styled in blush pinks and deep blue velvet chairs. The design struck the perfect balance between contemporary and a classic Great Gatsby look. The marquee accepted nothing but the top Australian celebrities and provided Chloe lounges, Celine tables and an international DJ to bring the party to life and keep everyone comfy. Award-winning restaurant Ezard catered the food with a strong focus on local produce, especially all things seafood.

Bright and vibrant colours seemed to be the theme of the day when it came to the ladies, whereas rich blues and greens were certainly on trend for the men.

It will be interesting to see what else makes it onto the field this year as every racing day out provides a unique view of Australia’s vast and ever-growing fashion scene.
