Meet my team: part 3

January 29, 2016

Now that you’ve virtually met our Social Media Editor Lacey Ward and our Reporter Darina Granik, I would like to introduce you to Chelsea Collinson.

As one of our resident hairstylists, Chelsea has been a long-time contributor to FAJO’s photoshoots and cover stories. I have completely relied on her with some very high-profile projects, as well as those very dear to my heart (my wedding!).

During a recent photoshoot, we chatted about just a few of her favourite things.

1) What do you enjoy the most about working at FAJO?

I love the FAJO team. Everyone works well together, shares ideas and comes up with something very creative. We always have fun on set and it’s truly a collaboration.

2) Why did you choose to work in the creative industry?

Because of its environment. It’s fast-paced, filled with great people and always has different scenarios. I love the challenges clients give me at the salon, and the wacky ideas my creative jobs offer.

It’s always different and always fun.

3) If you had to create a hashtag to best describe your personality, what would it be and why?

#sarcastic. I love having fun, and having a laugh when I work.

4) How would you describe your personal sense of style?

I would definitely say I have a causal style. You will never see me in heels or a power suit. I stick to black, white, grey and denim (never vibrant colours).

My style generally changes from “desert chic” to “90s grunge”. I like to have a masculine vibe about my outfit too, and balance it out with very feminine hair and make-up.

5) Tell us about your biggest fashion or beauty catastrophe.

My biggest beauty catastrophe would be my lack of eyebrow grooming when I was younger. As a blonde, shaping, filling and grooming your eyebrows completely changes your face. Let’s just say─my face has changed for the better.

6) What is the most unusual item in your closet?

I don’t really go crazy with my wardrobe, so nothing really stands out as unusual or extreme. Although I have a plaid shirt my Dad gave me with a leather patch on the shoulder. Apparently, it’s used for resting your gun on when hunting. I don’t hunt or have a gun, but I love that shirt!

7) What is your favourite item of clothing and why?

A good pair of sneakers or boots. Having great shoes really rounds out an outfit. I love vintage shopping, so I have a number of worn-in motorcycle boots that I like to sport.

8) What is your favourite accessory and why?

My favourite accessory is my hair. Your overall outfit isn’t complete without a fresh face of make-up and a great hairdo.

9) We can never catch you wearing ______? Why?

You will never catch me wearing yoga/workout wear outside my home. I always make time to do my make-up, hair and outfit.

My Mom always told me to put my best self forward because you never know who you are going to meet. I’ve always found that to be true and I stick to it!
