FAJO photoshoot: B.r.o.k.e.n. D.o.l.l.s.

July 18, 2017

Hello, beauty junkies!

For this issue’s cover photoshoot, we wanted to shake it up and bring you something a little bit sexier, veering from the seasonally appropriate, fresh and bright looks that saturate the Internet right now.

For this project, we played with classic, beauty makeup but used objects to create a creepy ultra-distortion of the models’ features.

We loved juxtapositions of inherent contradictions—our Beauty Editor Amy Pigeon came up with the concept of this shoot through her love for all things Tim Burton (dark and twisty with a sense of child-like wonderment, another contradicting juxtaposition!).

The cover of The North American Issue this year.

We wanted to create striking makeup on beautiful models, but with a twist. Think a playful yet sexy and dark shoot that builds over-exaggerated features. Then, pair the looks with dark yet colourful lighting.

The result? A modern and abstract, broken doll-themed beauty shoot.
