Karl Lagerfeld recently opened a photographic exhibition, featuring models, musicians, actors and other celebrities who all wore the iconic black tweed Chanel jacket in different ways. The opening was held at the Saatchi Gallery, an art venue off of King’s Road in south west London.

FAJO’s collage of some of the photos on display.

Held on the first floor of the gallery and set across four large rooms, the event exhibition consisted of a series of photos taken by Lagerfeld and styled by former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld in striking monochrome.

The versatile images showcase the takes on ways to style the black jacket, ranging from chic and classic to edgy and avant-garde. These pieces were worn by style icons, such as Alexa Chung, Anna Wintour and Sarah Jessica Parker.

A highly attended affair, the exhibition ran from Oct.12 to Nov.4. Two different prints of the photos were available for exhibition attendees (only one poster per guest), while a book entitled “The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld” was also available for sale.

Among other fashion admirers and art lovers, I was pretty excited to leave with a cool printout of Georgia May Jagger dawning the classic jacket. Next on my wish list is to have a little black jacket myself…if only!
